Every day ceramics handmade with love

Hand made crockery and functional pieces of art by Maria Cabrera, Colombian ceramicist based in North London.

All pieces are thrown on the potters wheel then trimmed and fired to a 900°C.
Then comes the glazing.

Glazing and decorating my pieces is what I hold most dear.

Mixing glazes and creating designs is a long process that requires all my attention and focus.

It is during the glazing firing, 1250°C, that the alchemical transformation of the materials happens.

I love the combination of colour, design and technique. Being a visual person, I get inspired by the colours, landscape and vibrancy that is around me. I also sometimes derive inspiration from my own Latin-American cultural iconography and folklore.

Enjoying the making and the therapeutic rhythm of the process in each single piece is a feeling that I want to share with my students. I believe everyone could benefit from it.

Classes in Muswell Hill.

One to One or Two to One, 3 hour intensive during which I teach the basics of throwing on the potters wheel.

  • "I love Maria’s craftwork. After purchasing a few items at a local farmer’s market a couple years back from Maria. I was so excited to find her on Etsy and add another mug to my collection. Mug is perfect size and fits so comfy in my hands. It will definitely contribute to a great morning cup of coffee."
